Our Journey So Far

Below is a brief recap of the journey Cherry Groce & The Cherry Groce Family have been on over the past few years

28th February 2014: Petition commenced

Campaign to the Legal Aid Agency to have a fair and transparent inquest.

To this day, no one has been held accountable for their actions that led to Cherry living the remainder of her life as a paraplegic, Independent reports state that there was a ‘causal link’ between the shooting in 1985 and her death in April 2011.

Without Legal Aid, the family will be excluded from participating, and therefore, unable to actively and effectively take part in such a complex case. This is grossly unfair, especially when the three other interested parties are being publicly funded!

130K+ Petition

3rd April 2014 we presented your signatures, along with over 130,000 others to 10 Downing Street

we were joined by Shadow Business Secretary for Labour, Chuka Umunna, who has been tenacious in his support for our cause.
Shortly after the delivery, we were informed that the Legal Aid Agency is reviewing our case and it has been referred to Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary, Chris Grayling.

This is a huge step forward. The Legal Aid Agency has twice refused us legal aid but, due to the weight of public support, they have been forced to review their decision.

Legal Aid Won
